When I first learnt that Moldavite was formed circa 15 million years ago from a meteorite crashing into Czechoslovakia, I was so intrigued that I acquired one in 2019. As the meteorite made contact with continental crust, the immense heat generated caused the mountain silica (from the difference in extreme temperatures) to become a kind of tektite with its beautiful greenish, glass-like texture that has come to be the Moldavite we know today.

This Moldavite is about $271, weighing about 12grams (I don't think it is possible to acquire one of a similar size and price in today's markets). The price of Moldavites ballooned in 2020 by as high as 10 times with its sudden increase in popularity. From Chlum Mine, the price of this Moldavite is nowhere near its spectacular Besednice cousins - Moldavites from Besednice (or affectionately known as hedgehog) have characteristically sharp and distinctive texture with a lot of depth in the texture.

This piece is not a Besednice but it will always have a special place in my heart. Just when I was resigned to the fate that it was lost after weeks of looking for it when I was shifting in between homes, I can't describe the inexplicable joy when I found it lying in a corner of a drawer .

It is made to be a pendant wrapped with waxed cord and leather with adjustable macrame style necklace.

It is said that Moldavite is the most powerful and perhaps most prized stone for bringing transformation into one's life, and it is also known by some to be the 'The Holy Grail of Stones and Crystals', and if Moldavite is anything but what was said about it, it is still a fascinating specimen to have.
